Fakarava atoll

Fakarava is the second largest atoll in French Polynesia with 60 km long and 25 km wide.

The main two villages are Rotoava, North (near the pass Ngarue and the airport) and Tetamanu, South.
This atoll, along with 6 other atolls in the same area, are protected and labelled as "Biosphere Reserve" by Unesco, which highlights the wealth of the region's ecosystem.

Excursions to discover under water species, such as grouper blue, marbled loach, the manta ray, and the highest concentration of sharks... On the island we will find pearl farms, fishermen, handcraft and lots of coconut trees that are used for the production of the famous "Monoi de Tahiti"

The most experienced divers have visited Fakarava and many writers have described this particular feeling of calm and pristine beauty.

Rotava the village counting 800 people. Connexion to Tahiti : daily flight.

Fakarava infrastructure :

  • A post office with an Internet Access. (wifi access in Havaiki bungalows)
  • Two grocery stores (accept credit cards).
  • An elementary school
  • A health care center with a nurse
  • Some telephone booths, a beautiful church, no ATM, bank, casino or dutty free shop.

The main assets of the atoll are the black pearl and tourism ...
The life of the atoll is gathered around the village and as soon as we walked away a little, we find the true nature.
